AUDITIONS

Award-Winning Director Casts Dramatic Short 

Saint John, June 07 - It's an excellent opportunity for non-union actors to gain valuable experience working with a knowledgeable, experienced crew. 

Adult, youth and child actors are invited to submit their resumes and photos for consideration by award-winning director Tim McDonough, for his short film, Sum of Us. 

A previous McDonough film, Passing Through People (see photo below), won best short film at the juried 2004 Tidal Wave Film Festival. He is a graduate of NSCAD's film program.

Most auditions are for on-camera, speaking roles.

At this time, all auditions for Sum of Us will be by appointment and by-invitation, taking place before the end of June. The film will enter production on Friday, July 01. 

The completed film will be submitted for competition at international film festivals. 

ROLES INCLUDE:

Rene.

No less than thirty (30) years old. No more than fifty (50). Might be seen by some as rough around the edges. Likes to work with tools. A blue collar look.  

Little Girl.

Must be able to 'play' three (3) years old and take direction well. Prefer blonde with pale skin. 

Bride.

Character's age no less than mid-20s, no older than early 30s. Pale skin. Light or medium brown hair with a curl or wave to it. Character is pregnant; we are actively seeking 'obviously pregnant applicants', but non-pregnant women welcomed.

Bridesmaids.

Age no less than mid-20s, no older than mid-30s.

Groom.

Aged no less than mid-20s, no older than 30s. Dark hair. Physique is that of rugby player or wrestler. Larger upper body.

Sales Guy.

Age in area of 40s or 50s. Stocky and balding. Conservative in appearance. 

Sales Guy's Wife.

Age in area of 40s or 50s. Brunette. Prefer applicants with prominent nose. Conservative in appearance.

Crowd.

Thirty males and females. Age range 10 to 70 years old.

STORYLINE, SIDES AND SUBMISSIONS

Storyline for Sum of Us.

A violist undergoes a spiritual change in dealing with her fears of performance, after a small child helps her confront her fear.

Provided ahead of appointment, at audition.

• Write name and phone number on back of photo, and attach it to acting resume.
• Photos and acting resumes may be dropped off at IVS (Innovative Video Solutions), 76 Princess Street, Uptown Saint John, between 9 and 5 on weekdays.
• All resumes and photos must be received no later than Thursday, June 16.

• Actors who are already in the 4Front Film Services Talent Bank need not submit again, unless the resume or photo needs updating.

:: SEEKING ACTORS AND NON-ACTORS ::        

dramatic short being cast

Saint John, June 10 2005 - Want to build your acting resume while working with an award-winning director? This is your chance to gain experience with a knowledgeable, professional short film crew.

Appointment only, by-invitation auditions will take place over the next two weeks, with production scheduled to begin at the end of June. A variety of character types, actors and extras are required, as one scene involves guests at a wedding reception. Formal acting experience is not a necessity.
