... THE CALL OF L.A. ::
new brunswick faces in faraway places
Summer 2004 - Talented Los Angleles-based Producer Suzanne Lyons, a transplanted New Brunswicker, has two projects in post-production ...

... Bailey’s Millions stars Dean Cain, probably best known for his 80s stint as Superman; the deliciously wacky character actor Tim Curry; and Jennifer Tilly, surely one of Hollywood's nicest actresses. Jennifer was in Saint John, shooting Jericho Mansions, in autumn 2002 and won the admiration of many for her fun-loving spirit and regard for fans.
In Bailey's Millions, a billionaire leaves her entire estate to her dog, named Bailey, and leaves nothing for her nephew. Being a little distressed over the whole deal, the nephew and his wife kidnap the dog thinking it'll help them get closer to the inheritance, but their plan is thrown off the rails when a little girl, her mother, and a canine behaviourist, one Theodore Maxwell, get involved. Watch for Bailey's Millions this summer.
Suzanne's other post-production film is titled The Heart is Deceitful Above all Things. It was written, directed by and stars Asia (pro: Ahs-ee-ah) Argento, a young actor / director to keep an eye on. Peter Fonda and Winona Ryder co-star. The plot in this one follows a mother as she manages to get her six year old son returned by a foster family, after which she embarks on a series of misadventures in the southern United States.
Will we see Snowfall Films return to Saint John with a new project in hand? Anything could happen in the ever-shifting film industry, but one thing is certain. Suzanne is a big fan of what Saint John has to offer as a film location. She says, "You can't beat Saint John as the foremost film location in New Brunswick. It lends itself to almost any type of shoot because it's a city of contrasts. At its centre, you have historic and modern commerical and residential building stock. There are genteel streets lined with mature trees, and, within a few blocks, the rank, dark alleys and back parking lots that are so important to, say, a crime scene for a drama. The Bay of Fundy is at its doorstep, and it's dissected by the massive St. John River. It has a major highway system, and a rail line. There are beaches, cliffs, farm fields, forest, and country roads within the City. Industrial backdrops are common. When time is money, having all these things close by is critically important."
