COURSE INFO >
Assistant Directors (1st, 2nd and 3rd) support directors by organizing and planning everything on a film set.
This workshop will focus on the roles of the 1st and 2nd ADs. The 1st AD’s primary role is to take care of the daily, practical management on-set, leaving the Director to focus on the creative aspects of the production.
Examples of activity for a 1st AD include working with the Production Manager to break down script, prepare a shoot schedule, and take care of hiring for equipment, locations and more. They also keep the production on schedule, orchestrating the ‘goings-on’ of the set.
The 2nd AD’s primary function is to assist the 1st AD by managing the ‘office side’ of the AD department. Call sheets, script changes, and the distribution of paperwork all fall into the work of a 2nd AD, in addition to handling the movement of equipment and people.
A worthwhile course delivered by two very knowledgeable, professional crew people.
