MITCHELL FRANKLIN PASSES ON
"do not follow where the path may lead.
go instead where there is no path, and leave a trail."
Bains Corner, near Saint John, Nov 27 - Mitchell Franklin, friend of Hollywood's most powerful studio head, producers and actors during its golden age, has died at the age of ninety-two at his beloved home just outside Saint John.
Known for his visionary approach to business, Mr. Franklin owned movie theatres, among other enterprises, and enjoyed hosting countless children's charities and organizations in his later years, at his sprawling estate among the rolling hills and striking scenery of his hamlet, east of Saint John. Of particular importance to him was the creation of the Fundy Trail, a permanent coastal trail, showcasing southern New Brunswick's rugged, natural beauty; a cause for which he tirelessly and sucessfully campaigned.
Mr. Franklin is survived by his wife, the former Janice Benson; his daughter, Beverly; his son, Neil; several grandchildren, and a nephew.
Visitation is at Brenan's Funeral Home this evening, with a memorial service at Brenan's on Tuesday, at two o'clock.
Film Front Online extends condolences to the Franklin family, and to friends whose life's paths were illuminated through walking alongside this brilliant man's.
